Hello

New victim here. I've owned a K100D since new and it never ceases to amaze me with the images I get from it. I've been searching around for another, more serious camera, and have looked at other brands. I had to laugh when I find my lowly Pentax has mirror lock up and dof preview when supposed 'superior' cameras (D300 for one) don't have these features. I would like to try a K10 or K20 but to be honest those 6 megapixels have never hindered my photography (cropping being the exception).

Welcome to the forum! Glad to hear you're enjoying your photography. Lots of good deals in the Marketplace for used cameras and lenses. Looking forward to seeing some of your images.

Thank you Steve. I see in your sig you have both a 10d and 20d. Which do you prefer?

The K10D and K20D share the same body but the sensors are different. The K10D has a 10 megapickle CCD sensor and the K20D has a 14.6 megapickle CMOS sensor. The K10D will likely render images similar to the K100D but with a bit more resolution. The K20D will render somewhat different looking images than you are used to. The K10D gets a bit noisy above ISO 400 while the K20D can do reasonably well up to ISO 1600. Ricoh does not service the K10D any longer but is still servicing K20Ds but who knows how much longer. I like both equally well but they are getting older now and they feel slow compared to the newer bodies. They both still take great pics though as you can see in The K10D Club and The K20D Club.

Welcome aboard, I'm still using K20Ds and I've a K10D around the place too, great cameras but perhaps a little long in the tooth specs wise, but I'm waiting to upgrade my Pentax kit to FF later.

I've been ready for years, unfortunately Pentax hasn't been ready for me.
