New member and 645Z owner

Hi All

I'm a new member although have been lurking for quite a while. I'm also a recent extremely happy and proud owner of a 645Z + 55mm.

My camera history...

Canon 20D
Canon 40D
Canon 5D II
Canon 1D IV
Canon 1DX
Leica M240P
Pentax 645Z - yeah baby

The 645Z is amazing. Went to my first airshow with it today. My last airshow I attended was with the Canon 1DX +300mm lens. Although I still only have a 55mm lens for the 645z the cropping power and the DR allowing me to push the shadows of silhouted aircraft is amazing. Didn't have too much of an issue with AF speed either I'll upload my favourite one of the vulcan with its bomb doors open (likely the last time I'll see this fine war bird flying given its being grounded for good later this year) when I've off loaded the 800+ images off the memory cards on to my mac

Kevin.

Kevin.

Always happy to see a photo of my favourite V-bomber from the 1950s and 60s, particularly shot with the 645Z. Welcome to Pentax Forums.

Congrats on the 645Z and welcome.

I'm another Vulcan bomber fan. Saw one years ago during the Falklands War that had stopped here, for a refueling . It was flying low, coming out of some dark, angry storm clouds. It looked like a huge bird....a raptor. That scene is still indelibly ingrained in my memory, after so many years.

Welcome Kev! I too would love to see your Vulcan shots. I will be in the UK in September. If the Vulcan will be still flying then I shall try and make a trip from NI to see it.

I made my own new member post back in June 2013 and then did nothing much with my old Pentax ME Supers. Thanks Kerrowdown for replying to that thread BTW
I ended up getting into MF film and now have a P645N and a few lenses. Recently I had a trade opportunity via another international forum, to trade a couple of lenses and quite a lot of cash for a P645D. I just checked the shutter-count and it had only some 200 shots on it when I received it! Loving the results so far but not the bulk compared with my mirrorless and rangefinder cams!

Welcome, from another fairly recent 645z owner and newcomer here. Mine surprised me too. I expected it to be good, just not this good.

So here is the original (converted for web plus resized to same size as crop) plus a crude crop and edit. Need to find some time to go through these properly

Thanks for sharing those. I take your point about the ability to crop. Fabulous aircraft. Great photo.
