love pentax

I've owned a pentax k20 for three years and have loved every minute of it. Like any camera geek I always feel the pull of new equipment. But I'm not a tech person. What matters to me that the photo I take tells a story that can be understood by the viewer in a moment. If I can affect another person with imagination, color, pathos, joy, well that's enough for me. I can do that very well with my beloved K20. But my question is could I tell an even better story with a k5iis or a K-3? My friends say it's all about the person behind the lens, not the camera. Do you think I should enter the more modern halls of an advanced camera or stick with what I know? I'm not really into landscape anymore but love the quirkiness of street photography. Thanks so much. (Oh yes,I love the idea of the Ricoh Gr alongside my K20.

The camera is just a tool that the photographer uses. Newer cameras make many things easier, so I think that you'd enjoy the upgrade to either of those bodies. I'd recommend the K-3, because it feels more modern and has better image quality/performance. Check out the in-depth reviews on our homepage to learn more

Welcome aboard, I'm still using K20Ds for that very purpose, coupled with a good wide angle lens, for that "up close and personal" image.

For your style of shooting, I'd recommend the K-3. You'll get improved AF, and resolution, and will probably be much better in low light.

Btw nice images on your gear. Sigma 18-250 does a pretty snazzy job for it being a superzoom lens! That said, you might be able to 'tell the story' with a faster lens? Or at least tell more stories in lower light.. hehe
