Hello World!

Greetings from Houston! Got my K-3 a few months ago and I'm loving it! Got a Pentax because a close photography bud of mine had one and I always thought his images were stunning! So far there has been one problem i have faced. I used to take many photos for my school with a Sony a77 and a 55-300mm lens. Now that i have switched i have been looking at a Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8, find myself in dark situations most of the time and want a fast lens. Anyone out there using this lens? If so, would you recomend it, or would it be a better choice to settle for the WR 55-300mm? Thanks for any responses!

I love my 70-200.
Only drawbacks are that it is not WR
And it is big and heavy.

The 55-300 is not usuable in low light.

What are you shooting in low light ?

The several 70-200s out there get good marks. Tamron's seems like it's a go-to choice for your use.

Sign up for Tamron's newsletter - they include rebates occasionally. Also, don't forget to use the Marketplace here to find used copies.

I would either shoot inside a gym for volleyball/wrestling, or baseball
/football closer to night time. Images werent terrible, but i know they couldve looked better if i had a faster lens.

Welcome aboard, I'll let cleverer folk than me keep you right on your lens choices.
