Hey all, I've been lurking around for quite some time now and finally decided to join. I just got into photography late last year, using my girlfriend's Nikon D5100 or my mom's Nikon D60. They're both nice cameras, but I felt like they were lacking some features. So I started looking at the updated version, but decided to do some research on different brands. Looked at Canon first because of the 5D, which is what just about all automotive photographers use, but didn't like the lack of features on the lower-end models. Then I stumbled upon this wonderful brand called Pentax and started researching everything I could. Loved that just about all of the cameras came with the dual scroll wheels, shake reduction, the magical Green Button, and the fact that I could use legacy glass. Originally I was going to get the K-3, since it could use two SD cards and a battery grip, but ended up getting the K-50 due to price. Kinda wish I would've went with the K-3 though as I really wish I had the grip. I've had it for a couple months now and I'm absolutely loving it! My current lens line-up is: Sigma 10-20 f/4-5.6, FA28-70 f/4, DA35 f/2.4, A50 f/2, and A70-210 f/4. Those old manual focus lenses are really nice, and they take great pics, but it's a lot tougher to nail focus without the split prism screen like I have on my AE-1 Program.
I mainly take take car pictures, but I'd like to start branching out into other forms. But mostly architecture, street, and astro.
Here's a couple of my samples. Please, please, please give me any criticisms you have. Good or bad, I promise I can take it. Also, sorry for writing a book, but I believe a good first introduction thread is a good way to start.
A70-210, not sure what exact focal length though.
FA28-70. EXIF is showing 31mm but it was actually taken at 28. Not sure why it's always off on this lens except at 70mm.
A70-210 at 70 in Macro.
Sigma 10-20
Sigma 10-20. Focus is off on this one. Swapped out the A50 before heading out and forgot my camera was still in MF...
