Hi from France (and a question!)

Hi everyone,
Long time lurker here, finally introducing myself! I'm English (are there many of us females on here?) now living in SW France the past 10 years and I pretty much shoot film 100%. I have a K1000 and a Spotmatic I use regularly but I also use many different cameras from MF to pinholes. My only digital camera is a Pentax K100D which is now at death's door . My question is, I use it only for commissioned work, mostly interiors/lifestyle which I kind of drifted into by word of mouth and it seems to be building up. While the K100 isn't the greatest camera in the world, it's not bad and with a decent lens on people have been happy with the results. But now it's failing me intermittantly (it locks up when I switch it on and I can't do anything with it) so I'm thinking about an upgrade of the camera body (secondhand) and I can't spend more than 200€ (about $220/£150) Would a K10 be the way to go?
Any ideas guys? Thanks very much!

The k10d is certainly better than the k100, but it's essentially from the same generation. I'd look around for k30's, k-x's, k-r's, and k-500's to see if you can find one in your price range.

Welcome out of lurk-hood There are some females on here, but I suspect you make up rather small minority. At least among the ones that speak up. Maybe you can help changing that?

I think Adam's advice is good regarding replacing the K100. It should be possible to find one of those for less than your limit.

Maybe you'd like something like the k-01 for something fresh. The image quality is amazing and it works great with manual lenses.

"Salut" from an ex-pat 'Ricain in Poitiers,

Welcome to PF and the Panajou B&M shop in Bordeaux has the following :

- Two K10D's ... 125€ & 199€
- a K200D ... 230€
- a K-5 ... 325€
- a K-5 with DA 18-55 WR ... 399€

See here : Page accueil panajou

They are a good store and there's nothing at my trusty Poitiers B&M store to recommend ...

If you have a question, shoot me a PM.

A+ ... John - my real name.

Thanks all, I'll spend some time looking up all these suggestions! Of course, ideally I'd shoot commercial work on film …

A word for the K-7

You can pick up a K-7, first in the new generation bodies, for around $200--vast improvement over K-10, K-20.
