Hi all from bertie in Scotland.

Hi,

I feel a bit of an imposter joining the Pentax Forum, as I haven't yet got a Pentax camera. However I have purchased my camera, a K-3 and I'm waiting for it to arrive, hopefully next week.

This will be a new hobby for me as up to now I have used my iphone for photos and before that a "wee Samsung brick" https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.png

Anyway here I am and I hope to learn from the experience you guys have and maybe in time submit a few photos. I have just been looking at one thread with photos of squirrels and frankly I am blown away by the quality.

I look forward to "meeting" you all over the coming weeks.

All the best,

bertie

Welcome bertie! Some years back we had a lovely trip around parts of Scotland, out to Skye (drizzly day), around Edinburgh, etc.

Yes I was unable to see the Scotland option in the list or UK. I only saw England and didn't want to make a big thing out of it. I will look again and see if I can correct it.

I am a Fifer born and raised in Kirkcaldy (close to St Andrews and Edinburgh) so there is no denying I am a Scot.

Hi Guys,

Sorry I haven't been back earlier but I have also joined the Pentax Users UK Forums and it is difficult to make time to do both especially when you get involved in threads. Anyway I don't intend to desert this forum as there is just so much to see and learn.

I have now received my K3 and after looking at various reviews of different lenses, I have purchased a couple of lenses to go with the 18-55mm kit lens, which I hope will cover my photography interests.

Firstly, I bought the D FA 100mm F2.8 WR Macro which received some glowing reviews and was also weather resistant. I have had it out a few times but I won't be posting anything until I get more familiar with some of the camera's attributes.

The second lens I bought but won't get till Tuesday is the DA*300 again well reviewed and hopefully it will rekindle my wildlife and sporting photography interests.

I have one other lens in mind, the HD-DA 20-40mm F2.8-4 ED Limited DC WR but I'm skint now as far as any further photographic purchases so the kit lens will have to take care of that end of things.

By the way for any who are interested in photographing the sky, there is to be a number of great meteor showers between August 11-15th if you live in the Northern hemisphere. The best viewing time apparently is the small hours before dawn.

Hello fellow Scot.

Can't imagine I'll be seeing much of the meteor showers with all this Scottish weather.

Where in the sky do we look for them? i.e. point the camera.
