Hey there from Chicago

My name is A.D.Avestan. Painting is my bag really. Decided to go film camera instead of digital as my main camera for reference images. Found a clean K1000, smc 50 mm lens. Figure I will go Portra 400 and mail the film for processing. Portraits are my main focus so I may get an 80 - 105 range lens as my prime. I have a Sony DSC-H1 and find myself fiddling instead of taking pictures. With the K1000 I just get the shot pure and simple.

Hi and welcome from Norway! Thanks for the intro. Going back to the basics is no bad thing. I think it's all too easy to get hung up on the bells and whistles and forget that the main parameters are still the same as they were 50 years ago.

Thanks Savoche, yeah all the menus, gizmos and blinking lights are just distractions.

Yeah, Kerrowdown. You know what? When they come up with a stripped down digital- say just film speed, aperture, shutter speed with manual focus and say 50 megapixels..maybe a self timer and a good light meter- they would generate a whole new paradigm and better pictures would result. That's what the world needs now.
