Welcome. Kind of know where you are coming from.

I started on a Ricoh manual everything SLR somewhere around 1976 when I was 16 or so, and then moved to a ME Super while at uni. Eventually something broke in the ME Super in the late 90's. After a few years of nothing, started digital with a 3.2Mpx P&S which proved to be quite frustrating in all sorts of ways. Got an early digital video camera with kids in mind which was probably one of the less satisfying ways of blowing $2k that I have ever spent. My next camera was a reasonable Canon megazoom thingie that wasn't bad but a widely experienced fault brought that to a premature end. All through this was kids. A Pentax K-x came next to replace the Canon and I haven't looked back. Kids getting older around the same time started to give me my life back also. I could never afford extra Pentax lenses for the MX Super back in its day. If you look at my signature block you can see I have rather caught up on M series lenses. I started 4 years ago just with the M50/1.7 from the ME Super.

Bringing by 'welcome' post to a close

And now to put a pin in my welcome post.... I took a walk this morning and here are my first pictures with my K50. I stuck with pretty much full auto just to get a feel for the camera. Enjoy!

My story is a lot like yours Joe and I still love to shoot film. While learning a lot about digital from the Forum I have discovered how much fun it is to experiment with anything on that new camera as much as you want because you don`t pay to process anything like the old days. A nice start above and keep shooting and learning-have fun.

Welcome to the forum, Joe. I bought a K-50 last year and liked it so much, I bought a second one! I think you'll love it!
