Seems like I'm becoming another Pentaxian

Hi all,

I'd like to say hello to all members. I hope that i'll be helpful for someone in near future but now I need an advice from pros in choosing right lenses for K3 II which i'm going to buy.

I've heard about "Three amigos". Nice name by the way, what are these lenses and where I can buy them?

Thanks!!

Welcome to the forum! You can find plenty of info on the 3 amigos in the FA Limited Club.

Welcome!

Where can you buy the Three Amigos? Depending on where you are from....

In the USA, you can buy them from B&H or Adorama

Welcome aboard! You have a lot of choices. I'm fond of the pancakes myself, but only have the 21mm. I think I'll eventually get the 40mm but find the 21 is just such a great FL on an ASPC.

Thanks guys for your responses.

Ter-or, yes, that's why I need your help I guess all these lenses are primes, right? Amigos I mean. Definitly will read reviews but I'm sure all of them must be just excellent.

I just thought before I completly go wild with these prime lenses, maybe it's not a bad idea to first buy a zoom lense like PENTAX DA Star 16-50mm F2.8 ED and play with the camera itself as I'm total newbie with pentax cameras. What do you think about this lense guys?

Yes, the "amigos" mentioned above are generally considered to be fantastic glass. There are other choices, though. The pancakes are small lenses, and while their apertures are not as wide as the amigos, they have their own charm. These pancakes are the 21mm, 40mm, and 70mm - they're all Limited series, and are good glass. It all depends on what you're after, what your budget looks like and what your style is.

A good zoom is very useful for everyday "walkaround" use. The 18-135 is a nice WR lens and not super expensive. The 16-50* is a big step up from that, and you will pay for that step. There are plenty of other choices like various 17-50 lenses from a few manufacturers. Take your time and do a little research before buying an expensive lens. Figure out whether it's going to fit your needs.

There are currently copies of all three of the amigos for sale in the Marketplace. Expensive, but the reviews don't lie. My experience is with the FA 77, and it has fantastic rendering.

Zooms are great; primes are great. What do you like?
What kind of shooting have you done?
