Hello from the Great Northwest USA

Greetings!

I am an avid amateur photographer who has had the excitement of having a photo in an international advertising campaign poster. Sadly it wasnít distributed in the US but I have a copy in Danish and in English. Since I wasnít compensated in any way I will still consider myself very amateur and most of my work reflects that!

I come by my love of photography naturally; I think it must be genetic because every single one of my cousins and two uncles have been bit hard by the camera bug. I grew up in front of a camera but discovered in my teens that I liked being behind the lens much more.

I liked playing in the dark room almost better than taking the pictures back when I started. I appreciate what can be done with Photoshop and I keep trying to learn it, but for me the joy is in that one perfect shot out of a few hundred. Where I once loved the dark room, I am not into playing with Photoshop, I wish I was. It just seems like work.

Iím looking forward to full frame sensor in the fall, but honestly I donít know that my skill level warrants a camera that expensive. But I canít wait to use some of my old manual glass. I cannot wait for reviews.

I hate proprietary batteries because I leave them behind, I forget to plug in the charger and have a fear that they will become impossible to find. That is why I love the Kx and the earlier ist models. I was in China on Shanghai bund at night and my extra batteries were in my luggage but I managed to find batteries right on the bund. Yes, I lose my car keys too and I am the kind of person who would miss the shot of a sheep In New Zealand because I was focusing on the grain of a pebble. So it goes.

I live in the Pacific Northwest and I do a lot of camping and hiking. I look forward to learning and hearing your ideas and looking at your pics!

Hi Tree,

welcome, grow tall.

I live in New Zealand and I'm always out camping and hiking. I've never ever taken a photo of a sheep!

cheers

John

Welcome to the forum, that's a real shame, I think that something is definitely amiss there.
