Hi folks! Pentaxian for almost 5 years here.

Hi everyone. I wanted to make an account to leave some reviews on my gear and hopefully participate a bit here and there

I'm a 26-year-old hobbyist photographer and post-grad student. Started with photography in 2011, with a dark blue Pentax K-x. I have to admit that what drew me to Pentax at first was the "stormtrooper" color layout for the K-x. Only later did I figure out I'd picked a pretty good brand! Recently updated to a K-5 IIs, and I couldn't be happier with it. Most of the time I use my Sigma 28mm f/1.8 - especially for night photography - or my (somewhat unusual) SMC Pentax FA 28-105mm f/3.2-4.5 lenses. I've got a few old zoom lenses lying around too but they don't see much use.

I have a bit of online presence on reddit, where I moderate a number of photography communities including the /r/Pentax 'subreddit'. I'm also on Flickr quite a bit, here's my stuff: you may enjoy my pics!

So yeah, glad to be here

Welcome to the clubhouse.
I also have a Sigma 28mm f1.8 macro, it's a great lens. Not a small lens...

I also have a Promaster 28-105 zoom which is pretty nice, great for its price. I think it's best around 70mm. IIRC that's the same lens with a different badge.

Yeah, the Sigma 28 is pretty huge. Very impressive lens both in size and results! I haul it everywhere, only reason I wouldn't use it all the time is the sheer fact it's stuck to that FOV.

I don't think the Promaster is the same lens, looking it up it has a different build and also different aperture maximums? The SMC Pentax FA has f/3.2 at 28mm and f/4.5 at 105mm, whereas the Promaster seems to go to f/4 at most. I love mine, it looks quite flashy in silver too.

Then it may not be. Or maybe a different version of it - who knows now? It seems pretty responsive, though.
