Hi everyone!
I am new to this website. Also new to DSLR photography and Pentax. Why Pentax? I am an avid researcher when it comes to big purchases, and I came to realize that the cost of the camera is just part of the equation. So, after looking at the options, I really liked what Pentax was offering in their cameras at all budgets, and the fact that there are so many great M42 and K-Mount lenses out there sealed the deal. I purchased a K-50, including the 18-135 WR kit lens, and it is probably one of my least-used lenses since I have acquired some old Pentax lenses. I already have several older prime lenses from Takumar to "A" series, which have taken some really nice shots.
I'm using Lightzone right now for post-processing. I have lots to learn but getting comfortable using it.
This website is an incredibly valuable resource and I have to say it inspires me to view the pictures others are taking, and read the many insightful posts and helpful tips and tricks. The lens reviews are a big help when shopping on ebay. In June I found myself in a auction barn in Pennsylvania, where I came across a Pentax M 50mm F1.7, a Pentax M 35-70mm and an 8 element SMC Takumar 50mm F1.4 for cheap. A quick look at the website confirmed that they were all good lenses and I snapped them up.
One of the best purchases so far is I bought the O-ME53 magnifying eyecup which is a big help for me at 51 years of age. Started needing reading glasses a few years ago....dang.
Finally, I have also *sadly* learned what LBA is, and so far I have not been able to find a cure. However, I've drawn a line in the sand on this. The first time I rob a bank to pay for a new lens, I'll admit I have a problem.
Cheers,
Les
