Hi from France

Hi all

I am an amateur photograph living in the western part of France.

After around 10 years with my K10 D (Pentax 18-55 + Sigma 70-300), I'm considering retiring it even if it still works.

So I'll certainly ask a lot of silly/stupid questions as I try to find out which is or will be the best replacement considering that I'm on a tight budget and thank you in advance for your kind answers.
I mostly shot landscapes and still things + some "slow" birds (ducks, herons ...).

Last thing : nice to be with you !

Welcome to the forum!
What sort of budget are you looking at?
You can get a K-50 reasonably cheap these days and a K-5 cheap used.
If you got a K-50 I would recommend getting it with the kit lens 18-55, that way you have a WR setup and the K10D will be easier to sell with the kit lens, I believe.

Hope you have fun here!

Thanks for the welcome !

Budget-wise I'm considering something like 1 500 (~ 1 700 US$), for the camera + possibly the Sigma 17-70 2.8-4.

I'm also planning to keep my K10D permanently set with the Sigma 70-300 so as never change the lense on the field as I live in a rather rainy area ... Unless it's a stupid idea of mine ?

Would a KS 2 be a good choice (twice the pixels count of the K10D) ?

TIA.

For that price you could get a K-3 as they are very cheap right now and have lots left over for lenses: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/94-pentax-price-watch/304034-k-3-649-w-fr...0mm-flash.html

You're lucky ! In France street price for a K3 alone is nearing 1100 $ ...
And it may be an overkill for an amateur like me : it is certainly a very nice camera for an expert but I'm 64 and still learning to make good -to my eyes- pictures.

k-50, k-30, k01. all three are inexpensive and better with higher iso.
