Hello from Belgium

I am Cez, 27 years old and have been enjoying photography for 2 years now.
Not Belgian but actually French living in Brussels.

My subjects are mostly urban exploration and architecture, especially in Eastern Europe, Italy or in France. Portraits at times also.

Happy owner of a Pentax K-30, which I often use with the FA 35mm f2 and the F 50mm f/1.7, together with the DA 16-50 and the Samsung 12-24mm, the rebadged version of the DA 12-24...

Looking forward to upgrade to FF when I will have the money of course, and when new primes and a 16-24 or a 16-35 will be available.

Welcome to the forum, it's funny no one wants to admit to actually being Belgian...

Just kidding.

<Kerrowdown> There are very few true Belgians out there, that is if they exist at all. There are Vlaamingen, Francophone, Waals, and Duiters.
They have 5 parliaments between them, 3 languages, 300 dialects, a million grouses against each other, and a zillion reasons not to be Belgian. But now I have spoken out, they are out to get me, hopefully with their Pentaxes. Welcome to Belgium and all Belgians!

@debakarma : yes I am based in Brussels. Well, I barely arrived in Belgium (lived here beforehand) but I never came across any pentaxian so far. In France, there is an important community conversely, and a 100 pct Pentax shop just opened in Paris.

@Kerrowdown : If I am not mistaken, Belgians barely make up to 50 pct of the population in Brussels...

It's a small country, with a huge amount of expats due to the EU institutions and many migrants coming here from every part of the world for other reasons as well. That is why there might be a few Belgians (plus, in the rare photo shops I came across, never seen any Pentax camera ).

Belgium is a relatively young country born out of a compromise between the Flemish and the francophones and between the catholic aristocracy and the liberal bourgeoisie. So it's not evident to associate Belgian identity with something in particular (out of the football teams, fries and bier) contrary to other national identities, which are, say, more entrenched in specific cultural and historical roots.

Moreover, some Belgian francophones told me, when they travel abroad, that they introduce themselves as French, as Belgium is not known by all, whilst converselymany Flemish, who have a more specific identity of their own, introduce themselves as such, and not as Belgians

Thank you both for a great insight into the people of the country, which explains many of the oddities about Belgium.

P.S. Many great beers do come out of Belgium.
