Was a Nikon 35mm and German TLR film user, and then a Canon DSLR guy. Love the L glass, but was getting bored. Also wanted weather proofing w/o spending huge $$. Discovered the K50, and am loving it! Pentax seems to put more thought into the product. It feels right- immediately upon picking it up. The kit lens optics are impressive too. Just ordered the 35 2.4 and anxious for it to arrive. Also impressed with this forum.

Welcome to both the forum and to Pentax, you've had the rest, but saved the best 'till last.

Welcome onboard. Read the manual - its pretty easy to get the hang on Pentax menus. And if you have questions post it here.

Hi, also new to the forum and relatively new to Pentax, about 8 months and love it. I also have a nikon 1 aw1 and have used canon but by k5 is the hands down winner in my books.

I quite dislike Pentax manuals, only thing about the system that suck IMHO.

OP - its just a matter of trial and error, and remember you can use both wheels to navigate through the menus.

TAv mode, set your aperture then adjust shutter speed for good exposure. Shoot RAW. Is there anything else to know?

Yes, one can change the Aperture in P mode by a dial
