Hello from Colorado, USA

I'm new to the forum here. I own a 35mm MX but only bought it for the lens, an SMC 50mm f/1.7 (M). I'll be selling the body so that I can get the funds together to buy a K-30 or a K-S2. I'm blown away by Pentax cameras. I'm a film shooter from way back, beginning with a Nikon F Photomic and Nikkor f/1.2 50mm lens; later had three Canon AE-1 Program bodies (very similar to the Pentax MX) and lots of lenses. I've owned a variety of small and bridge digital cameras and two DSLRs, and now shoot with a Panasonic FZ1000, with one-inch sensor and 25 to 400mm lens, that rivals a lot of the big boys for IQ and features.

I'm interested in street photography, landscape, and portraits.

I'm wondering if anyone knows: how busy and worthwhile is the market here?

Happy shooting, all!

The Marketplace is quite busy. Personally I've never failed to sell any piece of Pentax equipment in a timely manner

Welcome aboard! I think you'd like the K-S2 if you're currently shooting with mirrorless.

Welcome to the forum!
I would recommend getting a K-50 that can be had new for under $300 with lens today.

The K-50 is a fantastic camera, but I like the articulated screen on the K-S2, and I can get it new with both water resistant lenses for $499 at Costco. That's hard to beat. I may sell off the lenses, as I've already got an SMC 50mm f/1.7.

I donated my $20 today, so I hope to hear from you soon to get up and running on the market. Thanks.

Thanks. I do plan to stick around and learn. Love this website, and I have learned so much about Pentax cameras (and photography in general).

I'm hoping to get it mounted soon on a K-S2. In the meantime, the MX will do. Have to install a new mirror damper and light seals and then it should be good to go.

PS: I love the Highlands of Scotland. Was there in 2010. Great place for taking pictures, lovely people (and good beer).
