Hallo from Durban, South Africa

Hi to all Pentaxians.

I've been lurking for a while and because of the high quality of the information, photos posted and discussions here decided to join. I started with photography in the late 70's with a Ricoh KR-5 (The poor man's Pentax in those days and all I could afford!)

Retired in 2014 and with more time on my hands wanted to start dabbling in digital photography. Based on reviews and opinions on the forum I bought a K-30 with the 18-135mm kit lens. Boy, what a learning curve from a member of the GBT.

Happy to be here and learn from you all.

Regards,

CV

Welcome to the forum, shush don't tell everyone... but I still think you've got some of the best beaches in the world right there.

Thanks, Bertwert. Yes, I am having lots of fun but sometimes get frustrated with my own efforts when I look at the superb images posted by members.

Appreciated, Kerrowdown. You are right about the beaches. I also won't tell anyone about the game reserves and ......., and...... (how much space am I allowed here?)

Welcome to the Forum. The K30 is nice. The 18-135mm kit lens is not a slouch but if can get hold of a prime, say a nifty 50, you might get more keepers.

Thank you for the welcome. A prime is on the "I need it" list, but dependent on my good wife and budget.

Welcome from Chicago! You've got a great starting combination. The 18-135 is a pleasure to use.

Thanks for the welcome, Terry. So true about the 18-135. I have a couple of F-series zooms which I also enjoy, but the 18-135 is on the camera most of the time.

Just tell her a prime lens will make her look thinner in every shot.
