Hello All,

This is Sreenivasa, new member of Pentax Forums. I have recently purchased Pentax K3 and having a basic prime lens.

I am looking for a good zoom lens which suites for all occasions for my K3. I would be looking in the range from 20 - 250 mm.

At present my preference is Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM.

Could you please suggest me a good lens.

Thanks,
Sreenivasa

Welcome....

The Sigma 18-250 might be the best at what it is... the Pentax DA 18-270 is the Pentax competitor. They are rated about the same by forum members.

The average price of the Sigma is about $100 cheaper.

Remember that generally, the more versatile a lens is, the worse it will perform. So you can't expect to get the same level of image quality from an 18-250mm as you would from something like the Pentax 16-85mm (or Sigma 17-70mm), which would be my recommendation if IQ is a priority.

Welcome aboard. The Sigma 17-50 f-2.8 HMS and the Pentax DA 16-50 f-2.8 are both really nice lenses.

Welcome to the forum. You should get at least one prime, that will up your game. After all why get a K3 and stick with 1 cover-all lens?
