Soon to be new K3 II Owner.

Wanted to give a shout out to everyone! I've been reading reviews on cameras and lenses at this site and others for about six weeks. It was all the positive input here and elsewhere that helped me make up my mind and take the plunge on a new K3 II body this past Saturday. I also bought the inexpensive but nicely thought of SMC DA 40mm F2.8 XS.

The lens is in hand and my camera with extra battery and a SD card should be here no later than Wednesday. I do have questions, such as, can I use a 27mm to say 49mm step up adapter to add a nice lens hood for the SMC DA 40 lens?

All helpful input/advice is appreciated.

You should be able to- that's essentially how the DA 40mm Limited's hood works. You could also buy its hood for use with your 40mm XS.

Welcome! I got a K-3II a week ago and am very impressed, especially fitted with the HD20-40 Limited zoom - what a combination.

Thanks for the input and reassurance on the step up adapter. I already have a decent lens hood, cap, and IR filter from a Lumix FZ8 that is 49mm I am going to try first.

I will be buying a wider angle lens after Christmas Holidays are over, then further down the road, possibly the 200mm or the 50 - 135mm. Thanks again for the input!

I appreciate all the welcomes and I am definitely pumped about getting this new camera. If things go as planned, I should be able to post some shots by Saturday night!

Here are two of my 1st pictures. It was a windy day yesterday in Ohio and both the flowers and tree were flailing away.

Thanks bertwert. It was a tough afternoon with the wind gusting up to 10-12 mph. I am going out again this afternoon to try and get a sunset. This camera and the 40mm lens are keepers

Welcome aboard. Any relation to David? If so you should be blessed with a good eye for shooting. Nice first photos.
