Hey from Bremen

Hey everyone,

I've been visiting this site for quite a while now. I use to regularly check on Pentax related news, the fantastic database has helped me a lot in deciding what to buy and estimate value of Pentax gear that has come and gone and I learned a lot about camera technique that helped me become a better photographer. So I thought it was about time to register and be a part of this great forum and community.

My adventure into digital photography started with a pretty nice Konica Minolta G600 point an shoot, that had great image quality for that time and size and also had the possibility to make a lot of manual adjustments. Then time and money came to move forward and I bought my first DSLR, the Pentax K200D which I loved for it's handling, features and value. The only thing that left me wanting more was the pretty poor low light/high ISO performance. Pretty much everything beyond ISO 800 was unusable. So i sold it after having taken about 11k photos with it and used the money to rethink my gear and start to build up my dream set.

I fell in love with the wonderful, quirky K-01 and a few months ago I got a great deal for the yellow brick I just couldn't resist. So my dream set will consist of my K-01 plus the HD DA 40 limited that I just recently added as my first limited lens (see picture below). And further along the road I will be completing my set of pancakes with the 21 and maybe the 70 limited. Since "the best camera is the one you have with you" this will be my killer always with me combo.

But it doesn't stop there. One thing I absolutely love Pentax for is its legacy lenses and being able to just put any M42 or K-mount lens on my camera and shoot with it. In terms of image quality and especially build quality I find that nothing comes close to the K series. My collection currently consists of the K 50/1.4 and the insanely sharp 35/3.5. And finally the newest member of my lens family is a SMC Takumar 15/3.5 in the aspherical version. The only thing is that it is in a pretty bad condition with some dust and fungus inside and the ribbed rubber on the focusing ring is missing. Anyone know a good place for CLA in Germany?

So I'm looking forward to being part of this forum, learning, seeing some of your amazing pictures and sharing some of mine.

Welcome to the forum, I'm another fan of legacy glass.. esp. Takumars. Let us know if you manage to find a good place for CLA in Germany eventually.
