yes, late september is a good time to see the aurora lights, but as is it has been a bit dangerous for tourist and a few have died, īcaus some of then have just stopped at the side of the road an turned off all lights to see them and got run over by other cars.
Long stretches of the Ring Road have no adequate shoulders to safely pull off to the side. We were there before/after summer solstice, so we almost had the sun @ midnight.
Below, from the window of our bedroom on Flatey just after midnight on June 21. Everything about Iceland is enjoyable, except perhaps when a really dense cold fog blows in off the sea.
