Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to Pentax cameras. I was looking for an inexpensive DSLR for my daughter for last Christmas since she wanted to get into photography. Most starter packages were $700 and up for the features I was looking for. Then I found the K-50. It had all the features I wanted, decent burst speeds, high ISO, 1080p video, time lapse, weather resistant, etc., etc.. I made the purchase and got a great deal. Amazon had it on sale in white for $429, Target had it at $499 but would price match. I had a $150 gift card for target which meant I got the camera for less than $300 with a kit lens.
But my story doesn't end there. I received the camera and wrapped it up for Christmas. When Christmas morning arrived and I presented my daughter with the camera she fell in love with it. But what I didn't expect was that I fell in love with it too. This camera was amazing. The picture quality, the usability, the features, everything on this camera was incredible. It was a starter DSLR with Mid-Range features. And the green button... that was the final straw. When I discovered that beautiful little button I knew I had to own this camera myself, otherwise I'd be stealing my daughter's every weekend. So I watched Amazon, eBay, Fry's, Craigslist, daily sale sites and anything else I could until one showed up in my price range. Got a two lens kit for $399. Spent another $100 an a cheap prime and more on some new strobes.
Pentax has given me the bug for photography again. And it's given me a hobby I can share with my daughter. So, thank you Pentax.
