New to photography, not to expensive hobbies.

I've wanted a camera for a while and this past September seemed like the perfect time to try my hand at photography. I lucked into a photojournalism class at the college and ended up in a social media job at a small jewelry store.

I researched dslrs for a few days before deciding on a k30. I was curious of the merits of a pentaprism, and given its price point, it seemed like one of the best entry-amateur level cameras I could buy in my budget. I shoot with a 50mm 1.7 and a 70mm 2.4.

I've been learning what I can in the last three months and am hoping I can grow as a photographer from being part of this community.

Welcome to the forum. I still have the K-30 as a back-up and everytime I use it I say to myself "hey, this is one heck of a camera". Enjoy it.

I almost bought the K-30 - knife edge decision between that and something else - so I think you've done well. The shots you've given us indicate a bias towards people/portraits; and as ramseybuckeye said, you've made a couple of good lens choices (and you're doing very well with them).

Merry Christmas and thanks for the warm welcome. I've been impressed with the quality of the k-30 so far, but I feel like I'm just beginning to realize the camera's capabilities. My next project is shooting in low light. Here's to hoping that 2016 is a photogenic year.
