New to the DSLR world - St Pete FL

Hi All,

Used to shoot K1000 many years ago (still own it) but stopped shooting about 25 years ago (life intervenes). About to pull the trigger on a K-S2 tomorrow and am really looking forward to getting back into it. I understand Shutter, aperture, ISO but will have many questions about all of the other menu items now available in the new digital world of cameras.

Any thing I should know about the K-s2 before I buy? I know vid is not great but I don't much care about vid. Gonna go with the standard 18-50 lens and hope to use my old A type lenses (SMC Pentax-A 1:2 50mm, Tokina SD 28-70 1:3.5-4.5, MC AUTO ZOOM 1:4.0 -5.6 1:70-210mm (no real name on the lens, made in Korea ) ).

Gonna get an extra battery, any thing else right away?

You'll be seeing me a lot

Thanks,

Hazcat (Dave)

Hi Bertwert,

Got a tripod from the 'old days'. (Bogan and Bogan head). Will need to get a quick release plate and shoe, 2 SD cards (SCT class 10 32gb), old Cambridge bag. Unfortunately my old cable shutter release won't work on the K-S2 so I guess I'll need to do something about that.

The k-s2 has wifi, so any smartphone should be able to double as a remote shutter release.

Smart phone?? What's that? I still use a Nokia 6103! I am having my son look into a wifi device for me.
