Hello from Melbourne in the Land of Oz

Hi folks, just joined the forum after loads of lurking.

I've been a pentaxian for ever - following my father who just gave me his old Asahi Pentax H2 from about 1961.

I own a Pentax Super A from about 1980, and more recently a K20D and now a K-3 II.

I'm into birdwatching and astrophotography, neither especially good. For the birding I use a Sigma 150-500, which I'm very pleased with. Still experimenting with lenses for the astro stuff, which is why I joined. But I guess I'll look for threads about my astrotracer problem...

Hi skogpingvin, and welcome to Pentax Forums, from someone a little South of you (normally: I'm in Brisbane at the moment).

Your photographic journey is similar to many here. I started with an S2 (the H2 was the US designation, so your father must have acquired it from America) and then my father's SV, but you're one model ahead of me now.

Enjoy your time here.

Hi skogpingvin. Welcome aboard the forum. Start your own thread about the astrotracer problem and you will be swamped with helpful advice. They are very good like that here ( as you know from lurking !!! ). Looking forward to seeing some of your photographs soon.

Hello from Newcastle in the Land of Oz

G'day,

Thought I'd add my voice to the welcomes. Melbourne is a great town if for no other reason than you can park a motorcycle on the footpath.

Actually there's heaps of other reasons too, but that's for you to show us by posting some images.

Glad to see another local mate. See you 'round like a rissole.

Tas

Welcome to Pentax Forums. I too have a K-3II, and a Sigma 150-500. I currently have my Sigma 150-500 on my K-3II. I also have a K-5IIS with a GPS unit on my Pentax 16-85 lens. I am looking forward to using my Astrotracer function on both set ups.

G'day Tas, most of my ages are of birds. Some good, some pretty average, but the thing about bird photos is you can't organise them to do the right thing. My images have got a lot better since I destroyed my Sigma 400 prime MF from the 80s up at Lake Tutchewop and replaced it with the new 150-500. Awesome lens, just the ticket. Only cost me a grand and a lot of favours for the Missus!

Welcome, that's certainly a new collective noun (loads) for lurking.
