Hello from Iowa (USA)

Hi - glad to have found this forum!

I'm an amateur photographer with a background in community journalism (where every reporter had to carry a camera). The last Pentax I used was a K-1000, so that tells you how long ago that is.

My passion over the last couple years has been bird photography, and I've been fortunate to grab a few good shots with my current unit (a Lumix FZ70 bridge camera). I am seriously looking at grabbing a K-S2 body/lens package once I get my tax refund this spring, and then stocking up on older K-mount lenses to get the telephoto reach I want, in the short term. Would be interested in hearing from anyone who has tried something similar.

Hello Iowa from Iowa Don't be afraid to try some of the Tokina brand legacy lenses. Many are very sharp and in expensive. I can recommend the 100-300 F4 lens. Great for birding and very affordable.

Welcome aboard! There are plenty of people using older telephoto lenses here. If you have enough light, it's not too bad.
