Hello from Germany

Hi everyone!
My name is Winfried. I'm living as a teacher in biology in Hoexter Germany, a hilly area south of Hanover, with the river Weser flowing through, called Weserbergland.
I'm using Pentax gear since 1980, Pentax ME, MX, LX with a lot of primes e.g. gems like K 17/4 fisheye, M 20/4, M 50/1.7, M 50/4 Macro, A 100/2.8, A 300/4 etc. I used to shoot landscapes, plants and did a lot of macro work. I got used to set shutter speed and aperture manually. To shoot this old stuff was a pleasure!
In 2005 I went digital, Canon 20D. Thought a Sigma "super zoom" 18-200 were the ultimate kick, but was disappointed by the poor results. Therefore no more pleasure to take pictures.
By accident I read in 2013 a post about ways for reawakening old manuall lenses on modern digital cameras. That sounded good to me.
I bought a used K-5 (with only three very little pearls on the sensor's edges). Deeply hidden in a dresser the old pentax lenses were exhumed to their second live and wow they work perfect with K-5's sensor and shake reduction!
Returning to the old manuall school made photography a lot of satisfyingly to me.
Appendix shows a view out of my office on the little town Hoexter and the Weserbergland (K-5 with Tamron SP 24-48 f3.5-3.8, 24mm@f8).
Goodby Winfried

Welcome from Chicago!

I do field macro photography, documenting our native bees and some other insects. I have learned a LOT over the past few years about both photography and ecology.

Welcome to the forum and welcome back to real photography the Pentax way.

Enjoy those fine legacy pieces of glass, I'm a bit of a fan myself.
