Hello from Finland!

Just dropping by - since I just registered here.

First I have to confess that I don't own any Pentax cameras, but I really love the Pentax-M lenses that I use with my Fujifilm X-T1. My father owned a Pentax ME film SLR (which I'm also planning to use). This whole Pentax-affair began when I got his 30 years old Pentax-M lenses (35mm f/2 and 85mm f/2) and fell in love with them, as they perform really well on digital, especially with the lens turbo adapter that allows them to gain (almost) the full 35mm field of view and depth of field. Since then I've added the 50mm f/1.4 and 120mm f/2.8 to my collection. Both really awesome lenses.

Cheers,
Toni Palmén (aka Lupus)

Hei! What are you wanting to put your Pentax M primes on, which camera body are you using now?

Hope you enjoy the Forum.

Welcome to the forum, we may just be able to convince you to get a Pentax body too at some stage... the FF K1 is coming soon.

Thanks!

My preferred camera is the Fujifilm X-T1 and I see no need to change that any time soon. It's a camera that I feel is more like the spiritual successor to the classic Japanese SLR's (Like old Pentaxes) and has the best controls a camera can have as well as outstanding IQ. And it's like it's meant to be used with these classic manual focus lenses. I used to have Nikon's before, but those big plasticky black blobs don't interest me anymore. Just a personal feeling.

The adapter that I use is the Mitakon/Zhongyi Lens Turbo II (a speedbooster / focal length reducer) that adapts EOS lenses to Fuji X mount. Since they don't have the Mk. II version of the Pentax K mount yet, I have to use the PK to EOS adapters in between. A bit weird combo yeah - but works really great! And no adverse IQ reductions that I would care about.

It's awesome beeing able to photograph my own kids with the same lenses my own father used to capture my own childhood.

Cheers,
Toni

My mom asked to look at my late fathers camera and lenses because there was a little mildew on the leather camera bag.
Inside was his Minolta camera and two lenses, a 55mm and 300mm I never learned how to shoot a manual film camera

I just asked my father about his camera. He still has his Pentax ME somewhere stored, which has a little bit of light leak from the back cover. But should be usable. I was thinking of buying some film and trying it out, just for fun. His lenses were also pretty worn out as they were used for 20 years, but luckily he had used filters on them all the time so the glass is still in perfect condition. Also nothing wrong with the mechanics, just a bit flimsy aperture rings since they are so worn out.

PS. Just ordered the Pentax-M 80-200mm f/4 from eBay to cover my telephoto needs. At the moment I don't have anything longer than the Pentax-M 120mm f/2.8. Then I'll have five Pentaxes (and only three Fujinons).

Uh-oh. This thing is getting out of hand... Just ordered Pentax-M 28mm f/2.8 (Ver.II) and also ordered Pentax-A 70-210mm f/4 so I can compare it to the M 80-200mm and keep the one I like more.

Se A70-210 f/4 on aika hyvä. Ostin uuden noin 1984 ja sitä käytän vielä, ainoa juttu siinä on se "zoom-creep"
(the 70-210 is pretty good, it does suffer from zoom creep however)

Thanks! Sure is best camera I've ever had before. Loving it! Also the Fujinon lenses are stellar.

I was looking for a cheap (don't need it often) manual zoom that would work well with my Lens Turbo adapter. Interesting to see how it'll work.

Edit: Whoops. Also bought the Pentax-M 35-70mm f/2.8-3.5 from eBay. It had so good reviews and isn't as bulky as the A 35-105. And the (almost) full-frame f/2.8 (thanks to Lens Turbo-adapter) should be fun for a zoom.

Will post pictures taken with all these new lenses on their relevant (A and M) club threads. :-)
