Hello from crispy Qatar

Hello everyone. I am an American working in Qatar. I have been a Canonite for 11 plus years. However with Canon dragging it's heels on updating the 5d3 (4 years+) I am looking for alternatives.... and am smitten by the K1. I like shooting scapes and Macro and the K1 fits the bill... so if I can get in a pre-order, I might just join the Pentax family, just like my Dad did with his ME..

Thanks K-amps

Hi K-amps. Welcome aboard the Pentax forum. Many here are also smitten by the K1, so you are already in good company.

Welcome !
Qatar has certainly changed from the last time I was there in 1998, that whole region has. This is a very friendly and helpful forum, consider joining the groups in my signature below.
I look forward to seeing you pictures.

Welcome to the forum indeed - mosts systems have their strengths and weaknesses, but for most people here Pentax represent exceptionally good value and good values - I can't guarantee that the K-1 would be perfect for you, but it will be an exceptionally competent field camera with spades full of whatever it is that make many here fall in love with Pentax cameras.

They make very good macro lenses, too

Just think of a really long macro like Sigma's 180mm on a full-frame, that would be really compelling.

Welcome to the forum, the K1 is not far away now, some of us have waited for many years for such a camera from Pentax.
