Hello from northern California!

I'm a new member here, but I've been shooting with my two K1000 cameras and five M lenses since the late seventies, first with Kodachrome 64, then Fujifilm Velvia 50. I'm interested in finding a repair person and in seeing the work of other Pentax shooters. My work can be seen on my flickr. For my (and my wife's) Pentax photos, see the album called "Pentax!"
Regards, Vic Stewart

Howdy Vic,
Are some of those K1000 piks from Catalina Island?
(I guess not, they are labeled "Avalon")
And welcome to our friendly forum.

Yes, Moe, that's Santa Catalina. My wife and I went there last June with our son and and his family. I had just received my Pentax gear back from my daughter, who had had them in her desk drawer for nearly thirty years, and I was anxious to try them out. As you can see, they still worked! VS

I had never been to Catalina Island myself and did not know that Avalon was the town's name.
I saw your K1000 pictures and the images reminded me of a 1960s brochure for Catalina Island I once saw about 10 years ago.
The brochure belonged to a co-worker who's Family visited Catalina Island regularly in the 1950s-1960s.
I have wanted to go there sometime and your pictures have rekindled that urge.

It's a real time capsule. I'd really like to go back someday. There's a thirty-year wait for a permit to bring a car there, hence the glorified golf carts everywhere.
