Greetings from Nova Scotia

Hello to all members,
I've been a Pentax user since my purchase of a Spotmatic back in 1973. Just now, I'm carrying a K-r with M42 lenses from back in the day - 28mm f3.5, 55mm f2, 85mm f1.8, and 200mm f4. The kit zoom that came with the K-r is around somewhere. It was a difficult to set aside the Spotmatic and my 1937 Contax rangefinder camera with its Zeiss 50mm f1.4 and 135mm f2.8. Years ago I did quite a bit of available light photography - especially concerts. The Contax was brilliant for concerts. A whisper quiet shutter, true viewfinder and fast lenses. It was exciting to stumbled onto the Pentax Forum. Now that retirement and spare time has come my way, I look forward to following the adventures of my fellow Pentaxians.
Best wishes, Joseph464

Hi there from right next door in Newfoundland, and Welcome to the forums!

I've got two of the lenses you have (28mm, 55mm) and shoot them on both K-5 and Spotmatic. They're great. If you've still got the Spottie, no need to let it collect dust; drag it out and fire it up!

Welcome, best wishes, and I hope to see some of your images.
I started with a Pentax HIA, moved on to an SP500 and have gone digital.

Hello wtlwdwgn, csa, and smf
I took your hint and posted an album of shots from Guatemala. I hope you like them. I'll post more in the weeks ahead. I wish there was an easy way to copy slides to RAW. The gizzmos I've seen only copy to small sized JPEGs. Any ideas? One of my closets is jammed with slides from the 1970s-80s.

Welcome aboard. To scan your slides just use your camera and a macro lens. A friend o mine set up his own rig using an old Canon 6 megapixle camera, a small light box and an adjustable vertical column to mount his camera on. He had a friend machine one holder for film and another for slides. He tethers it to Lightroom once he is set up he can crank out up to 100 photos, negatives or slides per hour, His family has a history of being maniacal snapshooters. They photographed everything going back several generations. He has about 50,000 images to do. He has even built his own color correction curves for the various types of negative films he handles. This gets him close so that quick adjustments do the rest for a good portion of the images. .

Some images require a lot of work but most sail right through needing only a few seconds to correct. When he has nothing else to do he will spent a few hours working on this project and scans a few hundred more. Lightrooom has been a great help in cataloging and sorting the images.

Debakarma, that's a really great picture of the violinist. The way he holds the bow, the action, the facial expression and the pile of rosin on the instrument give a real sense of authenticity. I can almost hear the sound.

Thank you Joseph464. I am glad you liked my photo. This is a great forum to post yours too. Like you, I adore my old Takumars and you have nice collection. That 85/1.4 is a dream (happens to be one of my favourite focal lengths).
