Almost a year later with my first camera, Pentax K3

Hey all!

I posted here in this thread about purchasing advice on cameras. You all were very enthusiastic and helpful. I purchased a K-3 with a few lenses (Pentax 18-135, 40mm XS, Sigma 70-300) to start me on a road trip.

I just wanted to drop by again and say thanks! It's been fun. I had never used a camera before and I set the camera on manual the day I got it and just tried figuring it all out. I recently used Windows 10 photo viewer to do some light touches on pictures and I wanted to share a few of my favorites (impossibly hard to choose so I went a little overboard). Landscapes, cities, dogs, people and some flowers. Feedback is very welcome!

Album Here - Sorry if it is too many.

Regards

There are some really great shots in there. Sometimes it's fun to look back at how I've progressed as a photographer; I have so many more steps to take on the path of improvement. You seem to be getting along quite well.

I find it hard to believe that you had not used a camera until you got this one 12 months ago!
Very well done - you have a good eye for a photo.
I look forward to seeing more of your work.

That's the best way to learn photography.

Thanks for posting. That's how I started in digital, only there was no 18-135 os my set up was Sigma 70-300 and 18-55. I was good with it for years.

Thanks for the kind words!

I purchased the equipment a week before a 6000 mile roadtrip. It is really cool to see how much better the pictures came out the further I got. I did cheat by buying Understanding Exposure, chipping away at it slowly. Definitely feel like I have a lot of control, and even more so feel like I have a crazy amount to learn especially in post processing.

I'm now looking for another prime, I'm thinking a 35mm or 50mm macro as they seem pretty cost efficient.
