New (Hopeful) K-1 Owner in New England!

Hey Guys,

I am proud to say that I am a brand new Pentaxian! I decided to purchase the K-1 over a Nikon D750 and it will be arriving at my doorstep by the end of the week! Super excited to start shooting on it as soon as I can! I have already purchased the 24-70 2.8 and the 100mm WR macro which are my two most used mm ranged on my Nikon so everything should fall right into place.
I've been looking through these forums for a while gobbling up all the info I could about the K-1 and found this place to be a really great community, so I'm happy to join!

Although I can tell the K-1 is an amazing camera, it is still quite surprising to read such a sentence**. I doubt many people choose Pentax over a camera such as the D750 until very recently - Pentax is definitely competing and competitive in the FF segment.

Welcome aboard and do share your impression when you can.

** I'm having a hard time expressing my thoughts here but I don't mean the k-1 doesn't compete against a D750 but rather that I can hardly believe Pentax made a camera that would make it hard to decide between said camera and a D750. Really cool.

Honestly it was a hard descision. I was being pulled in both directions by the people I spoke to. Nikon has so much 3rd party support that it is seriously hard to ignore that fact. If I ever need anything, Nikon has it either first or third party. However I just loved how the K-3 sat in my hands as I tried that out in the store in place of the K1. I don't know what it is, it just felt correct. Everything felt right ergonomically. Also I needed a very good weather sealed body because I've been in some pretty harsh (Wet, cold) environments with my cameras and I know Pentax's are tanks.

Then I saw that while the total lens line up is smaller than Nikon, it has all the lenses I need and more. I really only used 2 lenses on my Nikon 90% of the time anyways. So I went with my heart and bought the K1!

The fact that it will perform better than the D750 for the same price also helped a lot too of course!

I will be posting an in depth impression most likely sometime next week after I get some time with the camera. Coming from Nikon it will be a bit of a learning curve but I think that viewpoint may be interesting to all the loyal Pentaxians here!
