hello

Hello. Names Brian am interested in photography and figured a pentax camera be a good place to start. Am browsing for a decent k3 and some lenses to get started. Figured it will last me years and the price point isn't to bad.

Hi Brian. Welcome to the Pentax forums. You have chosen a very good way to get started, gear wise. Good luck with your purchases, and post some photographs when you get some.

G'Day Brian, welcome aboard, the forums are a great place to do research on the Pentax system.

The K3 is a great option and it will indeed keep you happy for many years. Until recently I'd been shooting the K5 since 2011 and still think it's a great piece of kit. And the longer you get out of the body the more you can spend on lenses.

Enjoy your time here mate.

Welcome. I am a new joiner as well. I also started with the K3. I absolutely love it! I purchased the kit and recently I have purchased three additional lenses. I hope you enjoy your experience.

Welcome, Brian The K3 is a really excellent camera... for the money, it would be hard to find anything better. It punches well above its weight.

Ended up pulling the trigger on a k5iis since was no k3 for sale. Read some people preffered it over the k3 for file size, high iso and that it's not really any worse than the k3. So any tips I should know about? Oh also bought a smc 15. I like the star bursts lol.
