Hi from an old hippy

I just plucked up courage to say hi the day after buying myself a KS2 and I'm very excited about it!
This forum has been a great help in making decisions about kit, thanks :-)
Hope to upload some nice insect macros from Somerset in England soon!
Cheers

Welcome to the clubhouse!

There are plenty of us here shooting insect macros - and a few threads in which to share them.

Welcome to the forums, Gandelf - good to have you with us... and congratulations on your K-S2 - an excellent choice Do you know what lens(es) you'll be using for macro work yet?

Hi Mike, thanks.
After searching around (including this forum) I found a very good price (£98) for the Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 Macro DG Lens, so I just ordered it this morning.

I would also consider Raynox Achromatic macro lenses - as they seem to be a cost effective alternative, but first I will give the Sigma a go!

I have two of these and they tend to be soft at 300mm even in macro mode.
Now the Raynox DCR-150 would be perfect for attaching to that Sigma lens. I have that too.

thanks Photolady95 :-) I'm glad to know that's the right Raynox. The depth of field seems to be is extremely small with the Raynox - I will see how I get on without it for a little while, I'm planning to spend some time this weekend on the Somerset levels, so hope to post a sample soon!

That's why we use f stops like f16 to f22 to get more details in our macro shots.

Oh and welcome to the forum from another old hippie.
