Still one of the best crop sensor cameras ever made. Which lenses do you have?

Welcome to the forums. I have a K-3II also. The detail in the images it gets is excellent. It's a very nice camera.

Pentax-DA 18-55mmF3.5-5.6AL WR
smc Pentax-DA 50-200mm F4-5.6 ED
smc Pentax-F35-105mm F4-5.6
kinda crappy Quanterey 28-90mm 1:35-5.6 Macro
and I also use a couple old Pentax manual focus lenses. 50mm and a 500mm w/2x converter, from time to time

What do you think? I am fairly new with getting lenses and am very serious about building a good system. I like to photograph just about anything (as you can see from my albums on my profile) But i especially am interested in long exposure and street. Any suggestions will be appreciated!!!

I used to have an 18-55 and I got some really nice images with it. I sold a K-5 and the 18-55 to an acquaintance, and bought a Pentax 16-85 which gives me a bit more width at the 16 end and reach at the 85 end. The 16-85 takes very nice pictures, I have it on my K-5IIS, and I have my Sigma 150-500 DG OS on my K-3II. Since the Pentax 24-70 came out after I got my 16-85, that might be another one you might want to consider since it may be used on both APS-C (K-3II) and Full Frame (K-1) in case you might move to a K-1 sometime in the future. The 16-85 is built to perform on the APS-C (K-5 series, K-3, K-3II) cameras. I have used it for long exposures/night exposures and it works fine. The Pentax 24-70 is f/2.8 so it would give you more light to work with in lower light conditions. That would probably handle any long exposure or street photography in an excellent way. The Pentax 16-85 is f/3.5-5.6 so it would not give you as much light to work with as the Pentax 24-70, so if investment in performance was a choice you may plan on a 24-70.

I hope that helps a little. The 18-55 will be able to give you long exposure results and a lot of street photography opportunities, but if you were going to advance I would look toward the 24-70 for highest performance and latest Pentax development.

Thanks for the info! That does sound like a good lens to check out. I picked up a Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro AF Lens yesterday. The Quantaray Lens was working out a little too poorly and I'm heading to the LA County Museum today and wanted a more usable macro function.Plus I like the range i'm getting out of it.

Welcome!
I've been enjoying my K3II with a Sunpak ringflash this summer. It's been a major step up from the K5.
