Long time Pentax user from Australia

Hi All,

Have been a Pentax user for over 30 years & have had a few different 35mm & DSLR cameras in that time including a ME, MZ-30, K-m & currently using a K-30 with various Pentax & Sigma lenses. Enjoy all aspects of photography but mainly interested in Motorsport, Landscape & Wildlife.

Worked parttime as a freelance Motorsport photographer for many years as well as operating a online store selling prints from events. Not as active anymore but still get to a few events. Main interest now is Landscape & Wildlife, having some time to travel around Australia over the last few years. Will always have an interest in Monochrome as that is where it all started for me back in the day, can still remember the smell of the chemicals in the darkroom.

Not heavily into Post Production, but do use a few simple editing programs to achieve the final result, but always strive to capture the best image I can "in camera".

Some of my other hobbies are Amateur Radio (my username is my callsign), Four Wheel Driving & Touring, Astronomy & enjoying the outdoors.

New to forums but looking forward to seeing your images & sharing a few of my own as well as learning as much as I can from forum members.

Cheers, Doug

Thanks skunktail, always surprised when another ham pops up on a forum!

Don`t get to Sydney very often but will look you up when I do. Might catch you on air one day.

Hi Doug. Welcome to the Pentax forums mate. You've had a long history with Pentax already, and I hope it continues long into the future. Good to have you aboard.

Don't strain your ears as I have been off air on the HF bands for many years....lol. In fact the only radio I can currently use is my handheld 2m/70cm due to antenna restrictions and I only use that to listen to the local fire dept. when they go out on a call.

Hi Doug, and welcome to the forums - great to have you with us. Thanks for a nice intro post - it's always nice to learn a little about new members

I'm also interested in ham radio - my callsign is M0CQG... I'm not hugely active at present, but I do pop up on HF (40m through 10m, mostly SSB, occasionally PSK-31 and CW) from time-to-time, as well as VHF, UHF & D-STAR

Welcome Doug from VK2OTC.

I'm Treasurer of the Blue Mountains Amateur Radio Club. I'm not overly active but usually get on the Club nets on Tuesday (HF) and Wednesday (2m) evenings. Our Club operates 2m and 70cm repeaters with the callsign VK2RBM.

I might become a bit more active if I ever get my 2m/70cm rig fitted into my car. I plan to use my FT840 when I go camping.

My callsign comes from me having worked for 37 years as a tech with the Overseas Telecommunications Commission (OTC).

Thanks BigMackCam, I`m on limited power due to licence restrictions, only 10 watts. Have had one contact into the UK on 40m with some difficulty, might have to get an upgrade to make a contact!

Cheers.

Hi Ron, Might have to drop into the HF net one night & say G`day. I think Joe VK2EIR is a member of the club, have spoken to him a few times. Unfortunately no IRLP node in my area.
