A Takumar lens user

Hello,
Just introducing myself to the forum. While I don't have any Pentax bodies (yet), I do use a lot of vintage asahi pentax takumar lenses on my Canon and Sony bodies. I hope that doesn't offend anyone. I think they are some of the best lenses around.

You may be interested in the Takumar Lens Club thread.

It gets contributions on average a few times per week.

Welcome and thanks for sharing that. I like to use Asahi Pentax vintage lens as well. Which ones have worked well for you?

Thanks for all the replies back. To the question "which have worked for me?". I really like the Super-Takumar 50mm F1.4. While I also have the S-M-C version, I like the color rendering of the Super-Tak better. I feel like it has a slighter warmer tone (even though its not yellowed). I forgot to mention that I do have a pentax body, A spotmatic SPII, but no modern digital body.

Great to hear that. I have the SMC version of the lens K50 F1.4 on one of the first k mount lens. It sure is one of my most treasured of in my collection. It never fails to amaze me when I use it. I am going to call mine "The Stunner" lol. I would like to give a M42 lens like yours a shot someday. I heard those older ones started to become yellow over time. Thanks for the reply.

My significant other just inherited a Asahi Pentax KX with the SMC 50mm F1.4. It had not been used for a couple decades. I was surprised it did not yellow over time like the M42 versions? Are they optically different? Or no rare earth metals like Thorium?

Welcome to the forum. Do you have a few pic's you'd like to share that you've taken with your Pentax lenses? I always like seeing what folks are up to.

Hello, and a belated welcome to the forums from another cat lover! Great to have you with us

There are plenty of us using more than just Pentax, and a good number like you who use only the lenses at present. Everyone is equally welcome
