Hello from Edinburgh

Hey folks,

New on the forum, a one time Pentax K20 owner many years ago, currently shooting with a Fuji XT2 but have caught the full frame bug again and seriously considering the excellent looking Pentax K1!

G'day and welcome to the forums.

The K-1 is an excellent beastie capable of some wonderful imagery. I've not been to Edinburgh since 1986 but I recall plenty to capture in around there so post some K-1 shots if you do pick one up.

If not there's a forum section to talk other brands that will be worth checking out too.

Traveling from NYC to Edinburgh for new year's this year. Just bought a K-70 yesterday for this trip 😀. Post some pics and recommendations on what to see/shot around Edinburgh if you get a chance. Welcome to the forums.

Thanks for the welcome guys, I actually managed to snag an "Open Box" K1 and 24-70 from WEX Photographic (i.e had been opened and returned as unwanted) and its arrived today and saved myself about £500 in the process! Arrived today and haven't yet been out with it but its a cracking camera to hold, will take some getting used to the controls but its not all that dissimilar to the Nikon style of front and back control wheels, do miss the AF joystick of the Fuji XT2 though!

The Tamron 24-70 has always been my "go-to" zoom when I've shot Nikon so I know what to expect from the Pentax 24-70, both seem a nice combo together, big but not ridiculous compared to other similar full frame bodies.

Need to look at a wider option, the 15-30 looks great but is much dearer than the plain Tamron version for Nikon/Canon mount, also interested in a decent prime, probably around 28-35mm, always lusted after a 31mm f1.8 when I had a K20D!
