Hello from Amarillo, Texas

I just bought a Pentax K-50, and I'm looking forward to learning a lot here. I spent 1990 to 2003 as a regional newspaper reporter spanning four states, where I got to use my trusty Pentax K-1000 for more than a thousand pics that made it into the paper (mostly b&w).

After I left journalism, I made the logical leap to truck driving, and I rolled the 48 until I retired.

I looked at a number of different brands, but in my heart it had to be a Pentax. I think the ability to use the old glass iced the deal for a Pentax, and the K-50 seemed like a perfect first dslr, especially since it's weather sealed. That's a big plus in dusty old West Texas.

Hello, and a pleasure to find this forum.

Thanks....I know my shots aren't much to the folks here, but I'm still trying to get used to where all the buttons and controls are on the camera.

Welcome. I enjoyed a visit to the Amarillo area not long ago, including some fun time in Palo Duro Canyon - which somehow I'd gone my whole life without hearing of till then.

Hello and welcome to the forums - glad you could join us, and thanks for the nice intro.

Lots of K-50 owners here (and a few ex-truckers too) so you're in good company!

Even the " pros " had to start at the beginning LB. We all like to see what the others are doing. The members here are great at giving help and advice should you need it.
