I want to take photos from a tripod with my K-2000 SLR. The remote I have works only from in front of the camera. Is there a way to activate the shutter from behind the camera, say 10-15 feet away.

I am afraid that the K-2000 / K-m is the one and only Pentax DSLR that does NOT have a plug for wired or wireless remotes. Very silly for a camera of this type and a decisive factor in its time that I bougt a used K200D instead!

Welcome to the forum, lots of manufacturers do pneumatic cable releases in varying lengths, which may suit your needs.
