Greetings from Sunny Salem, Oregon!

I am a strictly amateur photographer and have been taking photos for nearly sixty years, starting as a Cub Scout early in the late days of the Eisenhower administration! I have just bought my first Pentax (not counting a Honeywell Pentax film camera issued to me back in my university days) - a K-50. I chose it primarily due to the perpetually drizzly weather found here in my part of Oregon and the notion of a weather-resistant camera appeals to me. My favored cameras have been a few Leicas, a couple of Panasonics (I'm partial to my LX-100), and my nearly 50 year-old Minolta SRT-101. As I move into retirement this year, I hope to get out and about more than in the past and don't want to be deterred by a threat of raindrops!!! The K-50 would appear to more than capable for what I might demand of it.

Reading through this forum helped me make the decision to buy my Pentax and I am expecting to make many visits back!

Have a wonderful year!

Hi from Australia Rick. Welcome to the Pentax forums, and Pentax equipment. The K-50 is a very good weather sealed body, but please make sure you team it with a weather sealed lens too !! Good to have you aboard.

Hello Jim-

Bits of snow, mostly drizzle, even here at 900'. We live in a great area to be enjoying the changes in weather!!!

Hello, Rick, and welcome to the forums - glad you could join us.

You certainly have a few years' experience!

Regarding the perpetual drizzle, I'm from the North East of England... I've a hunch we invented drizzle and exported it to other parts of the world

Looking forward to your involvement here
