Greetings from the Connecticut shoreline

Hi, all

Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm new to Pentax having just sold my m4/3 gear to purchase a KP. I'm impressed with how solid it is and how much simpler the menu system is compared to the Olympus OM-D I had. It's going to take awhile to get used to the OVF. So used to seeing a preview of the exposure through the viewfinder.

Amy

Welcome! You've got a great camera, and live in a scenic spot, I look forward to seeing your pictures.

Thanks for the welcome. I have to admit that I've been frustrated by the owner's manual. I found a nice review on the camera by Derrick Story that explained the basics very succinctly. Now I really get it. I recommend that article to anyone else who's new to Pentax and is having difficulty following the owner's manual.

Thanks. I'm just across the river in Groton. Are you aware of any photo clubs nearby?

Welcome to the forum. Any questions about the camera, ask on the forum if you're having difficulty, as previously suggested. Hope you enjoy your KP. What lenses are you using with it?

I got it with the 15mm f/4 and just blew all of my Amazon points for the 200mm f/2.8.

I live in West Haven and there doesn't seem to be too much around here like that. Your part of CT may be a bit different. I did look on meetup.com and there's a few things going on in my area; might be worth a look if you're interested. I haven't actually done anything like that out here as of yet.

The DA 15 is awesome! Great little lens. I can't speak to any of the longer lenses sold by Pentax. If you want ideas, the User Reviews on this site is a really great resource, often with user submitted samples, and there's lens "clubs" and such where specific lenses are discussed and images shared. I'd imagine you'll eventually be shopping for something between ultrawide and telephoto.

Yeah. Was thinking about the 50-135. Or a couple of nice primes.
