K1000 is a good camera to learn on... fully manual! Getting the film processed might get expensive. I'd recommend finding a lab that will do a good job developing the rolls of film and putting them on disk at a good resolution if you don't have your own darkroom kit & scanner. (Developing the film yourself will teach you a bit more about the process of using film.)
Having a darkroom setup, even if it's only black & white, will also help teach you a bit.. and enlarger lenses adapted to go on your camera can make excellent macro lenses.
I still shoot on film sometimes myself, usually stick to black & white, and scan it myself... not often, though.
Good luck to you! Ask questions! I'm absolutely positive I'm not the only person here who remembers how to use film.
