Hello from Amsterdam

Hello to all Pentaxians!

I started my photographic adventure with Minolta Z3, and then I moved to Nikon D3000, hoping that its "tutorial mode" would help me making good photos. It didn't, but maybe because I had a really bad lens - Tamron 18-200. My photos would never be sharp, so after few years I decided to go for Pentax, just to be sure that *every* single lens I would like to use would be stabilized. So now I own a second hand K-7, which came along with 18-55 kit and Tamron 70-300 - surprisingly good, when compared to my previous lens of the same brand - and a Metz Mecablitz flash, which I didn't use yet (I'm one manual away from it).

I wasn't really happy with the portrait photos I made with the kit lens, so I decided to buy ONE prime lens... only one, just to see, how it goes... fast forward ten weeks and now I have:
- RMC Tokina 28mm F2.8
- Miranda 28mm F2.8 (a bit soft, but doable when stopped down)
- SMC Asahi Pentax-M 35mm F2.8
- SMC Asahi Pentax-M 50mm F1.7 (and I love it)
- Petri 50mm F2.0
- SMC Asahi Pentax 55mm F2.0
- Vivitar AutoTelephoto 135mm F2.8
- SMC Pentax-A 35-70mm F3.5-4.5
- Pentax-F 28-80mm F3.5-4.5
- SMC Pentax DA 16-45mm F4.0 (the AF is not working, but the lens itself is great)

I'm waiting for a couple of Helios lens (including the "native" 44-K4 and the old 44-2 with 13 blades and M39 thread) and Mir 1B, they will arrive next week...

My interests are in portraits - both indoor and outdoor - as well as "garden wildlife" and some "family" pictures.

Attached is one of the first good photos I made (with the 55mm lens), developed in RAW Photo Processor.

Cheers,

Bruno

HA! You kind of dove into the deep end, eh? You have a few very nice ones there.
If you really want to pursue the macro end of things, keep an eye open for the older 50mm macro lenses from Pentax, or the 100mm. Though, if you keep some distance the 50mm f1.7 is nearly as good as a macro.

I've been to Amsterdam once, it looks like a really fun town.

Actually I'm surprised with the results I can get from the 16-45 lens. Thanks to its ability to focus at 28cm, it can do miracles at 45mm, and it's still relatively fast.
