Introducing from Colorado, USA

Hello Pentax Forum. I am an old Nikon owner contemplting switching to Pentax. Am a U. S. Navy trained photographer during the Korean war. My speciality is panoramic photography. I stitch anywhere from 5 to 12 exposures in photoshop or lightroom to make large prints up to 100 inches wide. I am the webmaster of the Black Canyon Camera Club in Delt, Colorado

Thank you all for the courtesy. I am not actually a Pentax user yet. Researching the K1 at this time.

Welcome!
Panoramas are something I haven't tackled yet. I'm having fun with fireflies, though...

welcome

" try it, you will like it "

consider renting a Pentax camera and lens if you want a trial run

at least one company from Tennessee have Pentax equipment

LensRental.com

I have used them before and it worked well, [ I have no other connection with them other than a satisfied customer ]

Welcome aboard.

My father went into the Navy in March of 1941. He wanted training as a photographer too, but somehow the Navy must have made a mistake as they taught him to shoot 16" guns instead.

Do you still have your copies of Photographers Mate 3 and 2 and Photographers mate 1?

Stitching shots made with the pixel shift mode on the K1 should be quite and adventure.

I have 1,2. I do not recall a book 3. Still cherish both books.

There was a single book called "Photographers Mate 3 & 2". May have come out later. My copy was from the 1960's.

truth be known, I am fighting the urge to rent the K 1 from them for a try out

what happens if I like it

PS:
they do have a site where they sell their used equipment and if you rent from them, they may allow you to buy the unit with the rental fee applied to the cost

A friend from our local camera club offered to loan me a K-20 with an 18-55 lens and a SD card. Therefore, I have a Pentax to play with. Cool and I am very thankful. Saves renting cost. Yea.
