Old Film Guy

I'm an old film guy (OM-1 and K1000 still like new) looking to get my first DSLR. I'm trying to decide between a K-70 and a K-3ii. I mainly used my film SLRs for astrophotography (AP) and intend to pursue that again. The D-70 looks intriguing given the feature set and cost but I haven't seen many examples of using it for AP. This is one of the few: Pentax K-70/SMC Pentax-M 200mm F4/O-GPS1 - Orion and the Whirlpool Galaxy - Astrophotography - PentaxForums.com.

Does anyone know how the K-70 performs for AP compared to the K-3/ii (or to a K-5/ii)? The K-3ii has the built-in Astrotracer functionality, which is nice, but it is missing an articulated display. So I can't decide which I would prefer.

PS. If I could figure out how to join the Astrophotography group I would ask this there.

you can get a right-angle viewfinder adapter. There are a few options, and are good enough to sight your target. That mitigates the need for the articulated screen, if you're using live view.

The interval timer functions are very sophisticated on the K3ii - I'm not sure how this compares to the K-70.
