I'm an old film guy (OM-1 and K1000 still like new) looking to get my first DSLR. I'm trying to decide between a K-70 and a K-3ii. I mainly used my film SLRs for astrophotography (AP) and intend to pursue that again. The D-70 looks intriguing given the feature set and cost but I haven't seen many examples of using it for AP. This is one of the few:
Pentax K-70/SMC Pentax-M 200mm F4/O-GPS1 - Orion and the Whirlpool Galaxy - Astrophotography - PentaxForums.com.
Does anyone know how the K-70 performs for AP compared to the K-3/ii (or to a K-5/ii)? The K-3ii has the built-in Astrotracer functionality, which is nice, but it is missing an articulated display. So I can't decide which I would prefer.
PS. If I could figure out how to join the Astrophotography group I would ask this there.
