Giving Pentax a 2nd chance after K100D... I am shooting w K5 IIs now...

Greetings!

Glad to join what looks to be a real quality forum.

I am selling my K100D and kit lens which has been collecting dust since 2014 when I purchased the wonderful K5 IIs.

I just bought an FA 50mm 1.4 lens and looking forward to a FAST lens.

I am also looking for the best reasonable choice for flash so I'll be digging thru the applicable forum for that.

Best regards,

Paul

former Canon F-1 35mm fanatic with 50mm 1.4 lens etc etc... and Mamiya Sekor RB67 Pro-S + lots of lenses and accesories which I sold at the peak pricing (1993). Still have the F-1 as it has more sentimental value than the price I can fetch!

Welcome to the forum.... Even though we own a K-3 and K-1, my wife still prefers her K-5. They are great cameras.

Welcome to PF. The K-5IIs is definitely one of the best Pentax apsc DSLR. I had the K5 and later the K3. Although the K3 was better for the autofocus, it did not have all the features of the K5, and the dynamic range of the K5IIs was better and the K5IIs has the low light focusing capability of the K3. Too bad that the K5IIs was not widely available, here at some point in time it was nearly impossible to find.

I found it a bit unerving that Pentax K5 IIs went out of production not long after I purchased mine in 2014 but I guess that's technology at work! I am old school and appreciated really fine well thought out products back in the film days being produced for years!

I am happy with the K5 IIS and finally pulled the trigger and got the Metz 52 AF-1 which I am experimenting with...

Thanks all!
