Don't worry about the controls. Its a very good trade off. Once you start getting some time on the camera you will realize everything is laid out quite logically and is very user friendly. You will be very happy with the quality of pictures.

Hallo, I‘m also new here. The K1 I bought in Juli before I made a trip to Namibia. I also looked for Canon, Nikon, Sony, but because I just started new with a FF camera the Pentax seemed to be the best for money, especially because I could get a used one quite cheap (I still wonder why he sold it so young...).
Have a nice time with the camera! You will have Tod learn a lot, but it‘s worth the time!

Yes, your right. I am still only fiddling with it shooting at home but already I feel I'm getting the hang of the Pentax UI and it does seem very logical and well planned.

I had some troubles in the summer, which I thought was heat, but turned out a simple factory reset got everything working again.

The downside - all the customization I did for re-mapping buttons etc. had to be re-done! I forgot how much I customized to suit my shooting in the field. The guys here have been very helpful with tips, like using the RAW button for a Shake-Reduction toggle, since I shoot RAW anyway.

Hallo from Germany! I‘m a new member, too, and also use the K1, but only the „normal“ Black one. I wish you a lot of fun with it!

I know of another three Pentax users in Wiltshire !!!!! I think we're getting like gremlins, When we get wet, we multiply. Must be the weather resistance of our cameras

Welcome to the man of great taste! How neat is it that you switched systems and managed to pick up one of the somewhat rare silver, limited edition models? The silver limited really is a lovely camera to look at but best of all it has performance to match. Hope to see you often on PF.
